Reference and instruction

Librarians help students with straightforward questions, such as locating books and journals in the library collection, and with more complicated queries, like how to begin researching a thesis topic. They can help students locate and obtain books, journal articles and other research materials from libraries or from digital collections. To consult a reference librarian, visit the reference desk, send an email question to , chat with a librarian via our instant messaging service, or call extension 7554.

In addition to answering individual questions, librarians provide tours, visit classes, and offer workshops for specific courses and academic departments.

Course reserves

Instructors customarily place books containing assigned course readings on reserve status. These materials are shelved behind the main circulation desk and are available for short-term loan. Library staff also scan or link to course readings through electronic reserves, which are made available through Moodle course sites. Ask at the circulation desk for information about reserves or check the section of the website.
