PORTLAND, OR — The 王钟瑶婚礼视频曝光 Library is hosting its first Zine Fest to celebrate independent publishing, DIY and zine making on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The one-day festival will feature both local community and Reed zinesters, workshops, and a keynote by special guest James Spooner (The High Desert, Black Punk Now, and the Afro-Punk Documentary). Spooner will share his experience as a Black punk navigating the scene and finding his voice during the keynote from noon to 1 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building (PAB 320).

Ann Matsushima Chiu, Reed’s social science librarian and curator of the Reed Zine Library, and Chlöe Van Stralendorff, visual resources curator and manager of Reed’s Visual Resources Center, are the creative forces behind Zine Fest. They are excited to welcome the Portland community to the Reed campus to learn more about zine making and independent publishing.

“Zines can be made by anyone. They are accessible, inclusive and a place to tell unfiltered and uncensored stories, which is really exciting,” Matsushima Chiu said. “We hope this springtime event allows current and aspiring zinesters to learn more about the decades-long zine history in Portland and finding inspiration from established zinesters like James Spooner, Alex Wrekk, Olivia Olivia, the folks at the Independent Publishing Resource Center and more.”

Masks are required for Reed Zine Fest. Reed Library is offering KN95 masks and a limited number of tests to attendees at the Zine Fest welcome desk. More information can be found at
