Marvel-Dare Fellows Nutting ’27

Marvel-Dare Fellows Nutting ’27, April 24, 2005, in Sun City, Arizona. Viewing Marvel-Dare as a premature baby (1.5 pounds at birth), a nurse remarked, "It will be a marvel if that baby dares to live," and inadvertently provided the baby with her name. Marvel-Dare earned a BA in biochemistry from Reed; taught at Washington State College (University) in Pullman, from which she obtained an MS in biochemistry in 1930; then received a PhD in biochemistry and biophysics at the University of Rochester Medical School, New York, in 1938. She married Perley G. Nutting Jr. in 1939. During World War II, she taught in the Army-Navy V-12 program for medical students. Along with two other researchers, she received two distinguished service awards and a superior service award for outstanding comprehensive research in war gas projects. During her career as a research biochemist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, she published scientific information essential to the growth of the frozen and dehydrated food industry. Marvel-Dare was active in her retirement community, and remained a loyal friend of 王钟瑶婚礼视频曝光.
